February 2, 2013New FIU wide receiver commit Shug Oyegunle (5-9 180 lbs) from Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida recently interviewed with PantherRage.com.
Oyegunle was asked to describe his experience on his official visit to FIU.
"I took my official visit to FIU last weekend and I committed Sunday after the visit was over."
"The visit went great. FIU has a very nice campus, a very nice atmosphere, and the players are cool."
On the visit he also got a glimpse of the academic side as well.
"My major will be sports medicine and I got a chance to meet professors in that major. During that time I really pictured myself going to FIU."
Oyegunle's host on the visit was current FIU WR Fred Porter and his primary recruiter was Coach Apollo Wright.
"Coach Wright and I have a great relationship. I have known him for a year and he is a great coach and person," Oyegunle said.
When I asked him about Coach Turner Oyegunle stated,
"Coach Turner is a professional. He keeps things straight forward and simple. He has a plan for FIU and I believe in his plan 100%."
The last time Oyegunle stepped on the FIU campus was close to a year ago and he elaborated on how things have changed since.
"The last time I was at FIU was last spring for a football camp my junior year. There are so many buildings being built and the best part is new dorms being built in front of the football stadium for all the athletes," Oyegunle said.
Oyegunle's plan until he arrives on campus are,
"Workout hard, my academics are already good, and definitely keep on my speed and agility program that I am currently on," Oyegunle said.
*Schools that showed interest in Oyegunle were Memphis, USF, Ball State, and FAU.
