Coley C-USA Player of the Week
Senior Jerica Coley was named the Conference USA Player of the Week, which was announced by the league on Monday morning. It is the second weekly honor for Coley this season.
This week, Coley averaged more points than minutes played at 41.0 points-per-game and 40.0 minutes-per-game. Her 41.0 points came off a 49.1 field goal percentage (26-of-53), a 37.5 three-point field goal percentage (6-of-16) and a 77.4 free throw percentage (24-of-31). Coley tied her career-high 47 points in FIU's outing against Southern Miss (2/19/14) to set a new C-USA record for points in a conference game. It was the third time this year Coley has registered 40-plus in a game, and the ninth time a Panther has produced 40-or-more points in a single game. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native also recorded her sixth double-double on the year versus Marshall with 35 points and a career-high tying 15 rebounds. In addition, her 82 total points on the week accounted for 47.4 percent of the Panthers' scoring efforts. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native continues to lead the league and tie for first in the nation in scoring at 29.6 points-per-game. She is also the only player in the conference to register more than 700 total points. Coley also added 15 rebounds against Marshall to tie another career-high and register her sixth double-double on the year. For the week, she contributed an average of 10.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. The two-time honorable mention All-American has scored double digits in all 26 games this season and has produced 20-or more points in all but three outings. With her 82 points on the week, she extended her streak to 56 consecutive games scoring in double-figures, dating back to the third game of her junior year.
The C-USA Preseason Player of the Year was recently named a Senior CLASS Award finalist, a Nancy Lieberman Award finalist as well as a Capital One Academic All-American honoree. The senior point guard continues to lead the Panthers in scoring (29.6 ppg) and eight additional statistical categories: field-goal percentage (.421), field goals made (271), free throw percentage (.826), free throws made (185), three-point field goals made (42), assists (4.2 apg), steals (1.8 spg), blocked shots (1.3 bpg) and minutes played (38.9).
