Tindal creating a buzz
Stranahan's Corey Tindal does a little bit of everything for the Dragons. He plays running back and receiver on offense. On defense, he mainly lines up at safety, but sees time at cornerback was well. Not to mention he was also on kick-off and kick-off return teams. Despite the many hats he wears for the Dragons, Tindal stuck to cornerback for the Badger Sports Elite 7-on-7 this past weekend in Tampa.
"This weekend was a good experience for me because I ain't never been to a 7-on-7 where you get that much exposure," said Tindal. "I played pretty good, but could have done some things better."
Tindal, who measured in at a NIKE combine at 5-foot-11, 173-pounds, was a name that did not get mentioned much heading into the tournament. After the final game there were plenty of people wondering who the talkative cornerback was.
"First, my mindset going out there was I'm underrated, I know I can be one of the top players. So, I just had it in my mind to play hard, try to make plays, try to show people that I can be one of the best players in Florida. I just went out there focused and showed them. That's how I got to put the groceries on the table."
One of the highlights for Tindal on the weekend was when he did battle with Ft. Meade jumbo athlete Brandon Fulse, a player getting plenty of attention from colleges. Tindal was able to out jump the 6-foot-4 Fulse in the corner of the end zone to break up what looked to be a sure touchdown.
"I told him before the play, man I know you all are going to run the corner, I told him to bring it."
Currently Tindal is sitting on a single offer from local FIU. The talented 2011 prospect talked about the offer from the Golden Panthers.
FIU offered me because they saw my ability and how I can make plays," said Tindal. "I like the school, but I'm trying to see if I can get some more (offers). I think they are an upcoming school. They are getting good athletes now, so sooner or later their name will pop up in big games. If I do go there I hope I'm a part of that."
Tindal plans to participate at this weekend's National Underclassman Combine in Tampa as well as both the Miami and Gainesville NIKE Camps.
