FIU football Head Coach Ron Turner has announced the hiring of Morgan Turner as an assistant coach for the Panthers, working with the tight ends and offensive tackles.
Turner comes to FIU after working with the Stanford Cardinal football program since 2010. He was most recently an offensive assistant in 2011-12 after having served as an intern in the strength and conditioning department during the 2010 season.
"Morgan is an outstanding coach and has great knowledge working with offenses," said (Ron) Turner. "His experience at Stanford, Indiana State and Illinois will be invaluable as we work with our student-athletes in learning and executing our offensive planning."
Prior to his arrival at Stanford, Turner spent the 2009 season as the quarterbacks coach at Indiana State, where he worked under head coach Trent Miles and offensive coordinator and former Stanford All-America flanker Troy Walters.
In 2008, Turner served as the quarterback coach and scout team coordinator for Central High School in Champaign, Ill., where he helped Central to a berth in the Illinois State playoffs.
A 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois, Turner served as a student coach for the Fighting Illini during the 2004 season. He also coached the freshman quarterbacks during summer workouts during 2003 and '04.
A native of Champaign, Ill., Morgan received his Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Illinois in 2009.
